ACT is pleased to announce its first production of its 30th
Anniversary Year. Jules Feiffer¡¦s ultra-black comedy
A ¡§vicious,
brilliant comedy¡¨ ¡K New York Times. Directed by Reuben M Produced by Vanessa
Lee The
American Community Theater presents Little
Murders, Jules Feiffer¡¦s
Obie Award-winning jet black comedy. Feiffer described the play as being ¡§inspired by
if you will, by the assassination of JFK and the shooting of Oswald a week
later.¡¨ Little Murders is a satire where madness rules and humour is derived from the
outrageously off-kilter world views of the characters: a modern metropolitan
family with a matriarchal mother, milquetoast father, bright sassy sister
Patsy, and brother Kenny who is trying to adapt himself to his homosexuality.
Patsy¡¦s fiancé Alfred is a once successful photographer who
suffers from an inability to feel or be passionate about anything. She has
taken it upon herself to mould Alfred into ¡§a strong, vital, self-assured man
that I can protect and take care of.¡¨ He is a fellow
who knows how to roll with the punches; he figures that if you daydream while
being mugged, it won¡¦t hurt so much. The two of them have a hard time finding a preacher who will
marry them without pronouncing the name of God. Then, a sniper attacks, and a
detective who has a stack of unsolved crimes suspects that there is a subtle
pattern forming here. WHEN Tuesday January 23rd 8:00pm Wednesday January 24th 8:00pm Thursday January 25th 8:00pm Friday January 26th 8:00pm Saturday January 27th 8:00pm WHERE McAulay Studio (Lower
